For emergencies and crimes in progress, please call 9-1-1 immediately.
Please be advised: Submitting a workplace violence report via the UC Workplace Violence Online Reporting Portal is not considered a police report.
At UC Santa Barbara, we are committed to creating a workplace where all employees feel safe and respected. A violence-free environment is not just a necessity but a fundamental right for everyone. Maintaining a workplace free from violence is crucial and our campus plan for workplace violence prevention supports this commitment to employee well-being and a positive work culture.
Our Campus Plan for Workplace Violence Prevention is designed to ensure the safety of our campus community.
Key components of our plan include:
Training
The University of California has developed training to educate employees, contractors and vendors about recognizing, preventing, and responding to workplace violence. The training is designed to empower employees, vendors and contractors with the knowledge and skills to maintain a safe work environment.
Reporting Mechanism
We have put in place a reporting mechanism that allows employees to report incidents of violence or threats without fear of retaliation. Reports can be made through the UC Workplace Violence Online Reporting Portal.
Support Systems
In the event of a violent incident, we provide support to affected employees, including counseling services through the Academic & Staff Assistance Program (right-click to open). Our support systems are designed to help employees recover and return to a safe and supportive workplace.
Regular Review and Improvement
Our Workplace Violence Prevention Plan is regularly reviewed and updated based on feedback, incident reports, emerging best practices and engagement by employees. We are committed to continuous improvement to maintain a violence-free workplace.
